WPT LONDON POKER CLASSIC NEWS
London – 11th August 2010 – The World Poker Tour is delighted to announce that two Bellagio stalwarts will be on hand to run the inaugural televised World Poker Tour® London Poker Classic Main Event, presented by PartyPoker, which takes place at The Palm Beach Casino, Mayfair between the 30th August – 4th September 2010.
Jack McClelland, the Tournament Director at Bellagio in Las Vegas will be taking on the same role for the WPT London Poker Classic, while Doug Dalton, Director of Poker Operations at Bellagio will be in charge of the highly anticipated cash games at Crockfords during that period.
Genting Casinos London Poker Manager Simon Tomsett said: “There’s a real buzz about the WPT London Poker Classic and it fits that we have chosen to partner with two of the best in the business to oversee the action. Jack and Doug bring experience and stature to the event and cash games. We may not have the water features of Bellagio but we’re expecting top tournament action at The Palm Beach Casino and some Bobby’s Room magic at Crockfords. The WPT London Poker Classic kicks-off the biggest poker month in British history where across all the major events and games we’re estimating that £100 million will be wagered through the poker tables in the capital.”
Amongst the recent confirmations for the historic WPT event include Phil Ivey, Tony G, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, Alexander Kravchenko, Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, Barry Shulman and James Akenhead.
Coverage of the event will be presented by Kara Scott, with the influential commentary team of Mike Sexton and Jesse May combined for the very first time.
The £5,000 + £300 Main Event starts on 30th August with the first of two day 1A’s. The eight handed televised final table takes place on the 4th September. The £15,000 televised high rollers tournament runs from 3rd – 5th September. A comprehensive and competitive range of live satellites into the Main Event run from the 27th August at The Palm Beach Casino.
